I enjoy doing my taxes, no really, I do. O.K., I will admit, it was not always that way. But it is now! What changed, Tax Software. TaxCut, Turbo Tax, Tax Brain or Tax Act, it really does not matter which program you use, they all make doing taxes a breeze. I remember 10 or so years ago dreading tax season. Now, mind you, I do not have a very complicated tax situation, but the absolute pain in the rump to do even my simple taxes was ridiculous. W2's, 1099's, 8283's, 4952's, schedule A, schedule B, Schedule D, 1040 this 1040 that, staple here, staple there, papers everywhere. Oh, and where am I supposed to mail this again? State Taxes? I have to do those now too? There must be a better way.

Now, I now what you may be thinking, hire an accountant. Nope, not me, I am way to cheap, or is that frugal. I would rather spend the 200 to 400 dollars on something just a little more enjoyable.

Tax Software, I believe, is the better way. You can either go online to one of the sites listed above and start within minutes or you can go to your local office supply or discount store and pick up the software there. Listed below are some of the reasons I believe that the software is much better than the old fashioned paper way. Prices start anywhere from $9.99 and up, depending on your tax status.

1) No mailing: You can e-file and you will get your refund a lot faster.

2) No errors: Automatic error check.

3) Importing: you can bring in information from your employer, bank or ira. no mistakes putting them in yourself.

4) State taxes: You can bring in all info from federal tax and import into state program. No duplicate entries.

5) Running total: Always a running total on screen of your refund amount.

6) Help desk: You probably won't need it, all programs walk you thru step by step.

7) Next year: You can import all of this years info into next years program, saves lots of time

8) Easy, secure and fast.
